Joseph was a young guy who knew he had a great future and destiny. He had a dream that his brothers and people would bow down to him. It wasn’t because he was proud, nor was it his personal goal, but he dreamt that he would one day occupy a position of authority and he communicated this with excitement to his brothers. If you know where you are going in life, there is no need for competition. When people don’t have a dream of their own, they may end up act wickedly just like Joseph’s brothers.
Joseph had a coat of many colours and even when his brothers tore the coat, it did not stop him from fulfilling his destiny. He was sold into slavery, he lived and served in Potiphar’s house yet he prospered as a slave. He was already on his way to success though he had not reached the final destination but he didn’t give up on his dream based on his circumstances, such that when Pharaoh had a dream, Joseph was recommended. What will people say about you? Can people recommend you?
Work on your character because somebody somewhere is watching you and will mention your name to somebody somewhere that matters.
When the king sent for Joseph, he quickly shaved and dressed up because he knew that he would stand before a great man for an interview. He didn’t go to the palace in prison clothes. He practiced his skills while in prison so he was well prepared. Develop your skills, personally develop yourself, practice what you have learnt and don’t let your opportunity come and meet you unprepared.
Joseph passed the interview because he prepared for it. And Pharaoh changed his apparel because passing the interview gave Joseph a new status. Do you have a dream, something you are holding on to? If it’s not in line with God’s will, then change it for the better. Hold on to your God-given dream; don’t derail, don’t give up or go with the popular flow.
Joseph had God and purpose in mind so he refused to have sex with Potiphar’s wife. She lied against him and he was sent to prison, still he continued to be righteous. Flee every appearance of evil, when tempted. Talk to the Lord when you are faced with temptation, have role models and accountability partners that you can talk to anytime.
Finally, I want you to know that you are not alone on this journey, God is with you. Joseph held on to God’s love, that was why he could forgive his brothers for what they did to him. We have to trust God and still love people no matter what we have been through. God can change any situation or circumstance, he is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we can ask or think.
Whatever your plan is this week, I want you to focus on your destiny and don’t allow anything or anybody distract you.
In His love
