My Life Outside The Church…

PNA B (1)

I am privileged to function in different roles daily and while it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, I am grateful for God’s grace and the opportunity to serve.

I recently offered Punch Nigeria a sneak peek into my life outside the church, here is the interview with Bukola Bakare… enjoy the read!

Love, Not Judgement..

The world today is filled with so much harshness and judgment. Many live in fear of saying the wrong thing or making the wrong move. Most people would rather keep silent with their issues or weaknesses than risk being judged or criticized harshly.

In the Bible (John 8:8), Jesus came to the rescue of a woman facing harsh judgment, this could have been anybody male or female. Some men brought this woman before Jesus, ready to stone her to death after she was caught in adultery.

27 (2)

They wanted to know what Jesus thought should be done to her. The law gave the punishment for adultery as stoning to death and they were hoping he would say something they would be able to use against him.

If He agreed to stoning her, He would have gone against His own message of love and forgiveness.. If he said to release her, He would be guilty of condoning adultery and going against the law, a treasonable offence.

Jesus, knowing the bad intent of their hearts paused for a little while possibly thinking of how to handle the situation. Like Jesus, pause and think when faced with knotty issues so you can speak words of favor and judge aright.

Jesus eventually looked up at the crowd and declared that he who was without sin among them should throw the first stone, he didn’t pass judgment on anyone rather he confronted the mob with the reality of their own weaknesses & humanity

In a nutshell, he told them that no one is perfect and everyone is a candidate to receive mercy both from God and men! Strangely enough, she was caught in the act of adultery yet the man involved had somehow escaped.

One by one the mob dispersed as each person realized that they weren’t perfect either. Because of Jesus’ wisdom and kindness, the woman received a second chance to make things right in her life.

Are you living under the weight of condemnation from past mistakes? Run to God, confess your sins, repent and receive the grace to start afresh.

28 (2)

Your life doesn’t have to end because you have made mistakes, we all have! God’s grace and mercy is available for you if you come to Him. He loves you and does not condemn you.

When you have received mercy and kindness, be merciful and kind unto others also, don’t be like the servant who received the mercy of his master but refused to show mercy to a fellow servant afterwards.

Let us reach out to others with hearts filled with compassion and love. Don’t be quick to pass judgment on others, rather give them the benefit of doubt and show them mercy.
Your act of love and mercy might be the saving grace for someone on the brink of despair.

May our hearts be filled with love and compassion for the hurting now more than ever before in Jesus name.

Make A Difference

The Bible tells us that “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1), this is a very important season for our nation, the church and the world at large.

We cannot afford to be complacent and uninterested in what is going on around us. It’s time to arise and gain clarity, focus and receive fresh direction on how to produce maximum impact in the days ahead.

This is the season to re-discover and give yourself fully to your divine purpose and assignment, It’s a time to step-up up your love walk, life goals and pursuit of purpose.

Let’s run the race before us well and make a tangible difference by living a life of influence. There is confusion and pain in the world today and people are desperate for answers to burning issues.

The love of God is the answer to life’s hard questions; this should be our message in these difficult times. God wants to love and heal people through you and me because we are His eyes, legs and heart.

We are God’s representatives on the earth and we need to be equipped to do His work.

Look around you, make a difference.

Grooming The Next Generation

Godly values may seem ‘old school’ and sound ‘old-fashioned’ but they are timeless and the only way to a successful life. Share your faith and teach the young people around you Biblical principles from an early age, a lot of the rot we see in the world today can be traced back to dysfunctional family systems.

Be a praying parent, it’s a joy to have children call us and share victories and prayer points. Be open to discussing and talking about the issues in their lives.
Don’t assume you know what they know or don’t know, especially with the evil going on in the media and on the internet, be a prayerful and watchful. Be an active part of your children’s lives and growth.

Talk to your child before he or she begins to encounter evils such as pornography. Have those conversations upfront.

We as adults should model Godly behavior and values such as integrity and delayed gratification to our children. Don’t take a one-size fits all approach to parenting, assuming all your children are alike.

Take time to study each child’s personality, likes and dislikes…Get into their world, don’t just give out instructions and commands, be a worthy role-model to them.

Pray together with them. If you cannot have morning devotion, then take advantage of technology or say a word of prayer during the ride to school. Make every moment a teachable moment. Bring up conversations that channel them towards God.

While watching a movie with them for instance, ask questions that bring God into the picture, share your stories and experiences. Let them know you were once young like they are and you understand how they feel.

Involve your children in community service at church or in your neighborhood. Encourage them to give and show kindness.

Teach them how to save, how to make good friends and how to say no to negative peer pressure. Prepare them for the world out there. They will succeed if they are prepared.

May God give us the grace and wisdom to groom the next generation for greatness.

Embraced By Love

We are commanded to love God passionately and be embraced by His love, if we understand His love, so many things that seem confusing in our lives will fall into place.

God’s thoughts towards us are deep, giving us a future, hope, and an expected end. His love is not an ordinary love; it is unconditional with no strings attached.

God is love and that He loves you is not just a cliché. Believe with a deep conviction in the love that God has for you. Be rooted and have confidence in it. You should trust in His love even when you feel unloved or unworthy. When doubt sets into your heart about God’s love for you, don’t allow it, just hold on to God’s love.

Whenever you are tired, burdened and don’t feel loved or feel like loving, ask the Holy Spirit to refresh your heart. Sing love songs to God! Sonorous or not; just minister to him all the same because he enjoys your worship.

God feeds on our praise and He cherishes our worship. Tell him, “God I love you, help me to love you more and let your love be perfected in me”. When you think deeply about his love it will give you grace and strength to love others, if you refuse to love people, you are yielding to the flesh and not to God. Ask the Lord to help you love, just the way He loves Ask God for the grace to love your spouse even when he or she is being difficult, also to train and nurture your children in love.

Idolatry is a sin against God. He doesn’t want us to have any other god besides Him, sometimes we esteem money, jewelry, shoes, clothes or our looks above God. This shouldn’t be so.

Such attitudes communicate to God that He is not our number one priority despite the fact that we say and sing that we love Him. Check your motives. Whatever you do for God should be out of love.

Don’t complain or grumble about your service to God. Count it a privilege to serve Him. I encourage you to re-affirm your love for God and make a decision to love Him forever.
Walk with Him, commune with Him and also take your strength and identity from Him.

I pray that you receive the grace to go on a new level in your love walk with God this season in Jesus name.

Balance Your Life

Striking a healthy balance between work, family and personal life should be a priority for everyone. An unbalanced home/work life can result in poor health, family conflict, poor performance & even financial loss.

Some benefits of a healthy work-life balance are fulfillment, health, greater productivity and stronger relationships. Having work‐life balance increases productivity, improves your happiness and overall job satisfaction.

There are many health risks associated with work – life imbalance:  obesity, irritability and other emotional problems. Other signs of work-life imbalance are extreme fatigue & burn-out, loss of interest, loss of motivation & depression

Time management is crucial to achieving work – life balance and it is a skill that can be learnt.. Know that 24 hours is enough. Stop confusing the urgent with the important. Urgent tasks do need to be done quickly, but that does not make them important, important tasks are the ones that help us meet our goals.

Learn to say no to unscheduled demands on your time, yet stay flexible so you can accommodate new and interesting opportunities.  In order to effectively manage time and live a balanced life, you must set goals and make feasible plans to achieve them.

We can’t attain real greatness if we are not organized and goal-oriented.
It is so important to plan because we have so much to do at any given time and it could be very overwhelming if we don’t learn proper organization.  When we fail to plan, we find out that at the end of the day, we don’t get as much done yet we are stressed.

Luke 14:28 talks about counting the cost before building the house. It is important for you to plan and take stock of what you are about to do.

Don’t be someone who has a ‘to do’ list and never looks at it, who then gets into a panic the day he stumbles on it. A lot of interruptions come into your day through phone calls, SMS, emails and chat but when you are organized and plan your day, interruptions will be minimized.

Lastly, learn to relax and unwind. Leave work stress at work and take out some minutes of ‘me time’ to de-stress in the evenings, If you have to turn off your data or phone, do so and get the needed rest.

Schedule time out with your family and loved ones, nourish those relationships also.

I encourage you to plan and balance your life such that no area suffers.  You will succeed in Jesus name.

In His love,

Nike Adeyemi

Life may throw up challenges with the capacity to cause us physical, mental and emotional pain. Some people in our lives may also hurt us so badly and the resultant pain can be crippling

In spite of the pain, hurt and disappointment you may have gone through, God can heal and restore you.. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother and He desires for you to hand every pain over to Him.

God is willing to help with the areas of our lives with which we struggle, if only we come to Him.22

He is the Beautifier who desires to beautify our lives if only we trust Him.

We need to receive our healing so we can be free to be a source of blessing to our world. Be deliberate about your healing. Don’t let the past hinder you from walking into all that God has prepared for you in destiny.

Embrace God’s love and let it wash away every pain and from inside of you will arise a passion to help others. Know that God is the reason why things are not worse than they are. Live a life of praise. It is God that wakes you up every morning. Let gratitude fill your heart when you wake up.

You are special to God. Forgive and let go so you can shine like a star that you truly are.

The same River Nile that was supposed to kill Moses saved him. The same circumstance that is causing you pain can be used by God to bring you fame.

You are not ordinary because God is with you on this journey so don’t be afraid, you will come out victorious.

I pray that God wipes away every pain and reassures you of His love in Jesus name.
