Turn your pain to gain

James admonished us to count it all joy when going through adverse seasons. As periods of trials can be very discouraging, we need to handle such times well. It is therefore very important that we see such seasons from God’s perspective. Jesus also acknowledged that trials are a reality of life but he encouraged us to be of good cheer because he has overcome on our behalf. As we go through hard times, rather than focusing on our current situation, we must constantly remind ourselves of the finished work of Christ on the Cross.

Never have confidence in your ability to succeed on your own; rather always ask God for the wisdom and strength to go through any challenge. The situation may not turn around immediately but you will be amazed at how you are able to go through joyfully. When one goes through trials, one is better and stronger. God specialises in turning ugly situations into beautiful ones and he always gives beauty for ashes. We do not have to know HOW God is planning to sort out what appears to be a mess, but we should know in our hearts that he will bring a message out of that situation. Relax and trust God because for every disappointment, you will encounter an appointment for destiny.

Businessman shouting her victory to the world As we realize that God is never shaken, then we become more like him even as we go through testing times. And the more we are like him; the less we will be shaken by circumstances that comes our way. Job was an upright man who was minding his business when God bragged about him to Satan; he endured very devastating trials but held on to God and refused to curse him. From the account of his experience, we learn that sometimes the greatest temptations come to those who are truly serving God. However we are assured that if we persevere awhile, God will strengthen us and settle us.

Always remember that temptations or trials are only for a season, a period of time. Therefore, hang in there and do not give up. God is always with you; so tap into his presence and receive joy (Psalm 16:11). Choose to look at what will determine your joy; don’t look at yourself pitifully. Be joyful because as your faith is being tested, spiritual strength and growth is being established in your life. Lean on God’s grace, for only then can you joyfully go through any situation in life. Lastly, learn from the situation and in the end, you will come out like refined gold

I want to admonish you this week to always rejoice (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). Remember you are on a faith walk and you have to live by the realities of God’s word.  Rejoice in the Lord and in the power of his might.

In His love
